Summer Birthstone Stand-Outs

Summer is here, with a selection of birthstones to think about aesthetically and contextually as far as what they mean. For those looking to get summer jewelry, the two months break down to pearls, moonstones, and alexandrite for June and rubies, onyx, and turquoise for July.

pearls

For June and July, there are five potential stones between the two months– six if you're willing to hunt down June's rarest birthstone Alexandrite. June and July’s stones can all be styled in a beautiful manner. Whether you're a Gemini (May 21 – June 20), Cancer (June 21 – July 22), or a Leo (July 23 – August 22), you've got options to match any aesthetic, personality, or fashion sense.

June has Pearls that have the meaning of purity or innocence. Pearls can be paired with many things because they come in various colors and styles. Pearls are also usually more affordable than other gems, making them more sought out for June's birthstones because it also pairs well with other stones.

Next, June has the Moonstone, which is associated with love and passion. Moonstone is said to bring great luck, as well. Moonstone is beautiful but subtle compared to many other gems, helping it stand out when paired with other stones.

Finally is Alexandrite, which is incredibly rare. It is often forgotten as a birthstone for June due to the less accessible nature of the gem. Of all of June's stones, it's the most vibrant and colorful, making the use of the stone in outfits harder to match and more of a showpiece.

turquoise stones

July has three vastly used and colorful stones compared to June's more neutral stones and the forgotten Alexandrite. July's first stone is the ruby, a bright red stone that stands out in jewelry. Rubies are thought to help with wisdom, wealth, and health. Onyx is another July stone, which is dark black in color with high shine. Onyx is thought to absorb negative energy and emotion. This stone pairs with literally anything because it is a truly neutral color that is strong enough to stand out. Finally, July has turquoise, the bright blue stone said to bring good luck and negate negative energy. This blue-green stone has become very popular with jewelry and become a fashionable stone that pairs with virtually anything.

With a little bit of the history of each of these gems, it’s up to you which one you might want by your side as an accessory most. They are all great options!
