Redesigning Treasured Pieces
NOT wanting to just sell some old jewelry for scrap metal, client Sue was intrigued to hear about Kiran’s Kustom Jewelry at a chamber of commerce networking event.
She discovered it is possible to have old pieces reworked into new ones, letting her keep previous memories tied up in the stones but set for her own style.
Sue said: “I had not heard of that before, so I took three pieces I had in my jewelry box that I was not wearing. I had a special chain I loved that was thicker than normal and the pieces wouldn’t fit onto it.”
“There were some diamonds and another sapphire piece, which is my birthstone, and she used the stones to create one new piece she designed for me. Some people ask me if it is an angel, others say it reminds them of a cross. It is just beautiful, and it has become my signature piece.”
Now Sue is delighted to recommend Kiran and her work – and does so whenever anyone comments on her jewelry. She said: “I get so many compliments on it as it is so striking and eye catching.”
Sue was so pleased with Kiran’s initial work for her that when her mother-in-law died and left some pieces to her, she knew exactly what to do. Sue said: “My mother-in-law liked white gold, but I prefer yellow, so I took the pieces to Kiran, who designed a beautiful ring for me incorporating the stones from my mother-in-law’s pieces.”
“She also made a ring for my husband Bob, so we both carry a keepsake and memento of his mother with us all the time.”
Sue said she gets the same reaction from people over the custom pieces she inherited. “They are both very striking and people always notice them. Kiran does a beautiful job – they are not things you could ever find at a store and the quality is wonderful. She is a highly skilled craftswoman and a really beautiful designer.”
Sue is keen to recommend Kiran and said: “Everyone has pieces they do not wear, things given to you by a loved one that are not your style, but you don’t want to get rid of, so when I heard about what she can do I was delighted.”
She also praised Kiran’s knowledge and passion to share her love of gemstones. Sue said: “I went to Kiran’s place and she was really easy to work with. She put my stones under her microscope and showed me their characteristics, explained them to me, and pointing out the differences. Kiran educated me on my jewelry and did an appraisal of them which was ideal for our home insurance.”
“I get so many compliments on my jewelry that I actually carry Kiran’s business card in my handbag to pass out when people comment.”
